The Icom radio is one of the long standing members of the 2-way radio dynasty. The IC-F range is one of the leading sellers of 2 way radio in the world and if you have ever used an Icom radio you will understand why this is. The standard Icom earpiece has a 2-pin connector, which is common place on a good majority of the icom radios. The only variation of radio connectors are the multi pin style, for the modern icom's and the straight pin connector, these are more common on the radios used in the marine industry.
Icom is renowned for producing radios for the marine and aviation industry, manufacture the best long range equipment. Many of the marine radio have been designed to have the volume and on/off switch directly in the way of the right angled connector cable, this means that there are two ranges of Icom earpiece.
The earpieces for the Icom IC- (F3, F3S, F4, F4S, F4TR, F10, IC-H2, H6, J12, M5, U12, U16, 4008, 4088A, T7H) are designed with a straight fit connector, moving the connection cable away from the volume and channels switches and not affecting the use of the earpiece at all.
The 2 pin connectors in available for these Icom radios IC-F3G, F3GS, F4G, F4GS, F11, F11S, F14, F14 S, F15, F14/24, F21, F21S, F22, F31, F33, F43 and ICOM ICV8 have the volume switch designed in a different area, meaning the right angled earpiece will fit comfortably into your radio and not effect the usage of it.
Multi connector radios will work with these radios IC-F30G, IC-F30GT, IC-F30GS, IC-F31GS, IC-F30GT, IC-F40G, IC-F40GS, IC-F40GT, IC-F50, IC-F51, IC-F60, IC-F3061, ICF4061, IC-F3162, IC-F4162, and do not accept a 2-pin connector.
Generally the 2-pin connector will fit on all icom radios with a 2 pin plug, you just need to be aware of the radio number and the type of earpiece that you will require, for more information see our connector chart.
